LG KSA Partners with Saudi German Hospital and Central Blood Bank to Support National Blood Supply

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, February 9, 2026 – LG Electronics Saudi Arabia has launched a blood donation drive in partnership with Saudi German Hospital and the Central Blood Bank. Based on the company’s slogan ‘Life’s Good’, this campaign supports national efforts to ensure a stable and reliable supply of safe blood across the Kingdom.
This initiative addresses a persistent and growing need. According to the Saudi Ministry of Health, one in ten hospital patients requires blood products during their stay, and a single unit of blood can save up to three lives. Maintaining a steady blood supply is therefore essential for emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatment, and the management of chronic blood disorders.
“Our employees embody the values that define LG – care, innovation, and a commitment to making life better for all,” said Jungho (Sunny) Kim. “Through this blood donation drive, we are empowering our team to become change-makers in their communities while addressing a vital public health need.”
Blood donation is not an occasional requirement but a continuous one. Globally, demand for blood remains high, yet only about 5% of eligible people donate, and nearly half of first-time donors never return. This imbalance places sustained pressure on healthcare systems worldwide.
In Saudi Arabia, the gap between demand and supply remains significant. While high-income countries have a median blood donation rate of 31.5 donations per 1,000 people, Saudi Arabia’s rate is 13.8 donations per 1,000 people. In addition, only 39.7% of the Kingdom’s blood supply comes from voluntary, unpaid donors, compared with more than 99% in many countries worldwide, according to World Health Organization data.
Health authorities consistently identify regular, voluntary, unpaid donors as the safest and most reliable source of blood, with the lowest rates of blood-borne infections.
Supporting National Healthcare Priorities
Through its partnership with Saudi German Hospital and the Central Blood Bank, LG KSA is supporting established healthcare systems that ensure blood is collected, tested, and distributed in accordance with national standards. The Saudi Center for Blood and Organ Transplantation (SCBOT) has long emphasized the need to expand the voluntary donor base to strengthen the Kingdom’s health infrastructure.
LG KSA’s contribution focuses on employee participation, logistical support, and awareness-raising to help close the gap between demand and supply.
Employees Leading by Example
LG KSA employees are at the core of the campaign, serving as donors and promoting blood donation within their professional and personal communities. On-site donation sessions and awareness briefings were organized to make participation easier and to address common misconceptions.
The campaign places particular emphasis on engaging younger donors, who are critical to building a sustainable blood supply over time. Educational outreach highlights the safety of blood donation, dispels common myths, and explains how regular donations support long-term healthcare resilience. Local studies also show that women remain significantly underrepresented among donors, a gap this initiative aims to address by increasing awareness and improving accessibility.
Community Call to Action
LG KSA encourages the public to participate by donating blood, sharing accurate information, or supporting local donation drives. The company plans to continue collaborating with healthcare partners to support similar initiatives beyond the current campaign.
This blood donation aligns with LG’s innovation-with-purpose and social impact goals, focusing on practical actions that deliver measurable public health impact.
